If your question is ‘How can I learn Self-defence’? The answer is Krav Maga! Self Defense is the core framework of Krav Maga and as such, a large part of each class is based on what is called ‘scenario-based training’. This is where defence against a specific attack or threat type is demonstrated and then broken down slowly and practiced. Approaching training in this way is what helps people learn Krav Maga as fast as possible – the training is based on simple self-defence principles which allow even a complete beginner to complete every class with a better idea of how to defend themselves.

Krav Maga was developed in the 1930s by Imi Lichtenfeld, who later became the Chief Instructor of Physical Fitness and Krav Maga for the Israeli Defence Force (IDF).

The FEKM (European Federation of Krav Maga) was created in 1997 by Richard Douieb, to whom Imi Lichtenfeld gave the responsibility of helping people learn the Krav Maga self-defence method in Europe, and now includes more than 25,000 members across 15 countries. It is the largest and most well-respected Krav Maga organization in the World.

Krav Maga Self Defence is run in London by Simon Pither, a qualified FEKM 3rd Darga Black Belt Instructor and the President of the FEKM-UK.

Simon has a background in Judo, Kung Fu, and self-defence and has been an instructor since 1995. During this time he helped develop a specific self-defence course for students, nurses, and teachers that was based on simple and easy-to-learn self-defence techniques. When he started to learn Krav Maga in London in 2011, it was an excellent fit as this is exactly what Krav Maga is all about! Simon is the highest grade British black belt in the FEKM, and he trains regularly with senior instructors from Paris, giving the club direct access to key principles and techniques.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS

I found it to be a good taster into what Krav Maga has to offer and it covered some useful basic moves which gave me a good insight into how effective this close combat art can be.

The course was very good, in as much as the training was clear, easy to understand and gave a very good feel of what to expect from training in KM, and a little about it’s origins and philosophy. The trainer was very concerned with our safety at all times and…

Very good – can’t think of anything to improve on.

Dan

Good atmosphere and we’ll structured class without being overly formal which I think reflects the high standard of instruction. Lots of good exercises and drills to develop fitness and self defence knowledge.

Jason

Great instruction – very clear and suitable for people with no prior experience.

Katie

I liked that the course was at times fun as well as serious, and enjoyed feeling how effective the techniques were. The most positive aspect for me was experiencing the generosity of the more experienced students as training partners.

Killian

..an excellent mix of technique and exercise.

Max

I liked relaxed and friendly atmosphere during course. Instructor was very helpful, which is important to me as I’ve never done martial arts before.

Milena

A good induction to Krav Maga. Interesting to see how to progress through the grades with the accompanying handout.

Neil

I thought the course was very good indeed. It was pitched at the right level with the techniques taught being easy to pick up and develop. I felt it was a good introduction both to Krav Maga and to the club in general, very friendly people, a relaxed environment, which…

Peter

I really liked it. I was very welcomed for my first day. I suggest that they keep doing what they do. They need to change NOTHING!!!! This is a high level “dojo” for anybody who wants to learn K.M.

Sev

I liked the total immersion in Krav Maga techniques right from the outset. The instructor was excellent and struck the right balance in terms of encouragement and making the session challenging.
